Role and responsibilities
The consultant will coordinate work carried out by business, functional, and technical architects, as well as by the development team. The goal is to ensure consistency across activities and deliverables during the development or acquisition of the solutions to be implemented.
These activities will be overseen by the department responsible for technological development or by any designated representative.
Given the diversity of the tasks, the exact scope will be clarified at the start of the mandate.
The consultant will be involved in the following projects and initiatives, among others:
- Internal Technology Centers Consolidation Program – This initiative is part of an organization-wide program led by the digital authority. It aims to migrate processing workloads from the internal technology center to the AWS cloud.
- Migration of the Financial Resources Management Solution – This project aims to improve current business processes related to financial resource management and integrate them into the organization’s ERP solution, with required adjustments to meet directives from the digital authority.
- Business solutions modernization initiatives supporting sector-specific programs.
What we need your help with
As the person responsible for the application architecture component within Enterprise Architecture (EA):
- Act as a key collaborator within the Enterprise Architecture Committee being established;
- Ensure the evolution of the application architecture component in alignment with business processes, information management, and organizational vision;
- Act as an active contributor who influences the work of the EA Committee through expertise that ensures cohesion with other architectural domains;
- Coordinate mandates with functional and technical architects to ensure consistency in application architecture activities across organizational projects;
- Guide the work of functional architects in defining the solution architecture and expected outcomes;
- Ensure the evolution of integration architecture to maintain its innovative nature and strong interoperability with operational systems;
- Ensure coherent and scalable solutions that meet a wide range of client needs;
- Ensure solutions avoid duplication and redundant processing;
- Act as a subject-matter expert to share, integrate, and evolve innovative solutions.
Main Deliverables
- Lead workshops related to the solution or project;
- Documentation describing all aspects of the overall solution;
- Advisories enabling an informed decision regarding the proposed solution;
- All supporting documents related to the above responsibilities, such as:
- Architecture meeting minutes with users;
- Delivery content prioritization;
- Presentation materials when required;
- Impact, risk, and cost assessments.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Each missing year of education may be compensated with two years of additional experience. A college diploma (DEC) is the minimum requirement. A comparative education assessment from the MIFI will be required for diplomas obtained outside Canada.
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience in roles that provide the required knowledge and skills in solutions architecture;
- Demonstrated effective participation in two (2) projects with complex challenges;
- Participation in the implementation of at least two (2) large-scale solutions (1,000 person-days each) supporting digital transformation.
